Description
Starling Nest box is a scaled up version of our very popular Tit and Sparrow box. The nest box features a 45mm hole entrance and the box has a tilting side opening to facilitate end of season cleaning. Starling nest boxes can be placed in a wooded or garden setting or on the side of buildings, out of direct sun and south westerly winds. Ensure there is a clear flight line to the nest box. Starlings prefer a slightly higher site, so the box should be 2.5 meters above ground level or higher. Starlings are gregarious so a few nest boxes can be placed in close proximity of each other.
Although Starlings are much more common in winter when our resident population is swollen by migrants from northern Europe and Russia, the breeding population is in some decline. Providing a nest box can also reduce competition with Woodpeckers searching for a natural nesting hole.
Starling Nest Box is Irish made from rough finished, treated deal.
